Para Ireneo, la salvación se realiza dentro de nuestro espacio y de nuestro tiempo, se cumple en etapas sucesivas y progresivas. Él ve la encarnación como camino de salvación, porque Cristo ha recapitulado en sí mismo la realidad humana integral, excepto el pecado. El Doctor de la unidad tiene presente el rol de la humanidad de Cristo en la salvación. Adán, plasmado por Dios (Gn 3,7), es la cabeza del género humano, por desobediencia peca, sin embargo, la recapitulación significa que la nueva humanidad encuentre de nuevo la cabeza, el nuevo Adán, hecho o plasmado igualmente de la carne de la nueva Eva, la nueva y definitiva unión del cuerpo (de toda la creación) con su cabeza.

Summary:

For Irenaeus, salvation takes place within our space and time, it is accomplished in successive and progressive stages. He sees the incarnation as the way of salvation because Christ has recapitulated in himself the integral human reality, except for sin. The Doctor of Unity keeps in mind the role of the humanity of Christ in salvation. Adam, shaped by God (Gn 3,7), is the head of the human race; he sins by disobedience; however, the recapitulation means that the new humanity finds the head again, the new Adam, made or shaped equally of the flesh of the new Eve, the new and definitive union of the body (of all creation) with its head.
